A dog born with only two legs and abandoned to die has adapted to life walking on her two front legs.
Puto’l, a six-year-old Filipino dog with a congenital deformity, is often seen running alongside other dogs and roaming the streets of Casiguran in Quezon City.
Puto’l, whose name means ‘cut’ in Tagalog, the Filipino language, can now balance thanks to the help of her owner, Danilo Codilego Jr.
The dog, who has become the neighborhood favorite due to her bravery and zest for life, entered Mr. Codilego’s life when a former coworker appeared with four puppies.
The other puppies were adopted, but the little Puto’l with two legs was overlooked.
They thought she wouldn’t live long. The only person with the strength to help her was me. We took pity on her. Besides Puto’l, we were speechless.
Puto’l had trouble walking during her first two years of life, but she finally learned to maintain balance on her front legs.
The six-year-old dog, fiercely devoted to her owner, is now frequently seen defending Mr. Codilego’s house.
Puto’l acts like a guard dog, barking whenever a stranger approaches, Mr. Codilego continued.
She also seems jealous if I focus on another dog. Besides that, she is friendly and much loved in the neighborhood.
She has no problem when I have to travel for work because everyone takes care of her.
She’s not picky. She enjoys the meals we have.
But she can’t get pregnant given her condition.
