Brave fisherman Kai Survance and his friend sprang into action to rescue a sea turtle from near-certain death in the jaws of a hungry tiger shark in the Bahamas.

The meaty meal of a tiger shark on a helpless sea turtle was dramatically interrupted by a pair of courageous heroes.

The fishermen captured their extraordinary rescue of a loggerhead turtle, which was being tossed around in all directions by a hungry predator attempting to swallow it whole.

Kai Survance and a friend were on a fishing boat near Abaco in the Bahamas when they witnessed nature at its most violent two years ago in December 2020.

Footage shared on their social media page, kaiowenfishinginc, shows the action up close as the shark sinks its teeth into the sea turtle from behind.

In an incredible stroke of luck for the turtle, its attack pushed it into the path of a pair of daring fishermen, eager to assist.

The hard-shell turtle is seen desperately trying to escape the razor-sharp teeth of the beast swimming towards their fishing boat in an attempt to free itself.

At one point, it flails its front flippers to push itself up onto the boat, and the shark quickly drags it back into the water.

One of the men can be heard saying: “Grab the turtle, grab the turtle. We gotta save this turtle.”

As the shark veers left, the turtle manages to break free and floats in the water before the fishermen grab it and move it to a safer location.

“Get it out of here, this big damn shark,” one said.

“Now we’re on a turtle rescue mission. That tiger shark was soaking, soaking this poor turtle.”

They moved further away and released the sea turtle into the water.

Viewers praised the pair for rescuing the turtle and were surprised to see a shark hunting in action.

Tiger sharks are known to feed non-selectively, meaning they can hunt anything from small fish or crabs to larger marine animals such as dolphins and turtles.
